Plumping

Some people say that plumping face masks are the Holy Grail of the face mask world. When we are young, our faces are full and wholesome; as time passes, we lose that youthful look. A plumping face mask won’t reverse the process forever but can certainly help in the short term.

Plumping face masks work by making our complexion look brighter and may contain light-reflecting particles that soften the appearance of fine lines and other flaws. Some may contain particles such as gold powder, gold shimmer or powdered rose quartz to help them to do this.

They will also contain moisturising ingredients. We can all benefit from anything that moisturises our skin, as it is so easy for our skin to lose moisture. Factors such as central heating, air conditioning and wind all contribute to drying out our skin.

Rosewater is a common moisturiser that we use in some of our masks. This is a bit of a super-agent, with its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties making it particularly helpful for those with sensitive skins.

One of the most powerful moisturising agents we know is sodium hyaluronate, which occurs naturally in our skin and will help to make our complexion look more youthful by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Who doesn’t want this? We include sodium hyaluronate in some of our masks. Another ingredient could be botanicals to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells and making our skin look brighter and younger.
